I have thoroughly enjoyed my first term teaching Science at Dunhurst, the school community have been really welcoming and supportive. Dunhurst is such a vibrant school, the pupils are always participating in so many exciting events and activities, there is never a dull moment.
I am particularly enjoying my role as a Block 2 tutor, at Dunhurst the rapport between the teachers and pupils is really special. There is a deep seated respect, which lends itself to a really productive learning environment.
The pupils always come to class with positive attitudes, they are enthusiastic and independent learners who love getting involved in lessons. Last term we had great fun in the lab making ice cream, fossils and non-Newtonian fluid (cornflour goo!). The ‘hands on’ ethos at Dunhurst really lends itself to the teaching of Science, but at the same time this is underpinned by high academic expectations in all subject areas.
It is great to be part of a school where everyone is working together as a community towards a common goal.
